and just in case we didn’t already have enough snow…

…it’s snowing some more.
So, wanna know what I’m thankful for about the winter today? Several things:
1. The City of Minneapolis, their snowplows, and their quick work on the roads.
It is amazing how many of these big genius trucks this city has! And, as soon as it snows, they are out working.2. The City of Minneapolis, their salt trucks, and their quick work on the roads.

These cool trucks spread salt all over the snowy/icey roads. Though the salt makes a mess of your car, it makes the roads safe and easy to drive on.
Without these 2 things, we would be eternally stuck in our house. For months.
3. A husband who shovel’s our driveway. (and students we can bribe with food to come help him)

Shoveling is major hard work. And our driveway is not small. Not to mention the subzero temperatures. I’m real thankful Colby does this, and I don’t have to.
While he does this without complaining, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind one of these:

All our neighbors have them. They are like lawnmowers, but for snow. Maybe when we’re 70 (like all our neighbors are), if we still live here (Help me Lord!), we’ll get a snowblower.
So, on this Wonderful Winter Wednesday, I am so thankful for all of these contraptions that make it possible for us to leave our house whenever we want, no matter how deep the snow!

This is the last Wonderful Winter Wednesday for a while. In case you don’t already know, we are having to temporarily move back down South for a few months. We live on financial support, and are in need of an extended time of support raising. SO, we will set up house in Birmingham for a while. Hopefully we will be back up here in a strong support position (and able to enjoy a few more months of winter!) by the end of February.
Since a lot of our students will probably follow us on this little blog while we are away, I might do a few Wonderful Southern Wednesdays while we’re in Birmingham. Though it doesn’t quite have the same ring to it as the three W’s, our students don’t really have any concept of our “previous life” as southerners. So, maybe I’ll write a little about things we enjoy in Birmingham.
Until then…
Lindsey, I love the fact that the neighbor is decked out in his warm snow gear to use his snowblower while Colby has on a sweatshirt and jeans. Hopefully we will see you in Birmingham soon!

Oh Lindsey,
This website warms my heart! It is so fun to see pictures of your family. I’ve just got to meet Ellie Jane soon! I know your mom is thrilled to have you around for a while. She told me about your blog at church months ago and I did look at it once before, but just now getting around to leaving you a comment. I loved the Christmas pictures! Your family will always be special to us.
Love,
Lynne
